Discover our new Southpac Diplomas
Changes to the nationally recognised Business Services Training Package have now commenced. Here’s what you need to know about Southpac’s new Diplomas.
Following the review of the Business Services Training Package by Skills for Australia, the release of the BSB Business Services Training Package Version 7.0 in October 2020 signalled significant changes to this nationally recognised training. In short, bringing it into line with industry and skill expectations in the modern workforce. So what’s changing, and how will this impact current and future Southpac students?
BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing
The new BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing has been expanded to require 12 units of competency, up from the previous 8 units. This is made up of 4 core and 8 elective units, which are all offered by Southpac Aerospace. To accommodate the additional requirements, we have developed the new Managing Aviation Compliance Course.
Southpac’s Managing Aviation Compliance Course is designed to help individuals develop the skills and knowledge required to establish and manage compliance management systems. Therefore, enabling organisations to fulfil their obligations and responsibilities under compliance requirements. This supports the aim of the Diploma of Quality Auditing – which is to provide a knowledge base in quality auditing and support those with specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate their own work or the work of an audit team.
The most straightforward pathway for achieving the BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing will continue to include two of our most popular courses – the Safety and Lead Auditors Course, and Systems for Continual Improvement – along with the Managing Aviation Compliance Course.
However, there are other course pathways to achieving the Diploma of Quality Auditing, including the Advanced Management & Leadership Course or our Aviation SMS Course.
BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management
As part of the national changes, several new units will be required for the BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management, including 2 new core units. In addition, this Diploma will now require 6 core and 6 elective units, which are all offered by Southpac Aerospace.
We have incorporated these new core units in our Systems for Continual Improvement and Advanced Management & Leadership courses, so anyone completing these courses from now can achieve the necessary units for the BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management. An additional two units can also be used from other Southpac courses or online courses.
What about the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management)?
While the AVI50119 Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) remains the same for now, these changes to the Business Services Training Package will have a minor impact to anyone who has started but not yet completed this Diploma. Several units required for the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) will be transitioned to online modules to reflect the changes in the other Diplomas, so they will still be accessible and easy to complete for existing students.
What this means for you
We are working to make the Diploma journey as seamless as possible for our existing students in light of the changes coming in at a national level. We’ll continue to personalise our support and provide the best possible pathway for every individual, depending on your circumstances.
Ultimately, these changes will improve the quality of our training, and equip the aviation industry with better skills to surge ahead in the coming years.
In conclusion, Anyone who has already completed the BSB51615 Diploma of Quality Auditing or the BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership & Management will maintain their qualification and will not be required to upgrade or undertake any further training for the qualification to remain valid.
