Course FAQs

All enrolments for Southpac courses can be completed online from the individual course page. If you are enrolling in a public course, choose the upcoming date that you wish to enrol for and, providing it is not Full, click the Enrol button next to that date to begin the enrolment.

When you enrol for a Southpac course, you will be able to provide Payer details during the enrolment process – continue as yourself if you are paying as an individual, or add a company contact if your company is paying.

No other payment information is taken during the enrolment and you will not be required to pay for the course at the time of enrolment.

However, completing an enrolment for a Southpac course confirms your place on that course, and you will be issued with an invoice shortly after enrolment, which must be paid within 30 days. This is why it is important to have read all the Terms & Conditions in our Participants Handbook, including our payment and cancellation policies, and to have all necessary financial approvals in place before completing your enrolment.

Southpac’s Safety and Lead Auditors Course has been the most sought after lead auditor training in the aviation industry for more than 20 years. While the course is contextualised with aviation scenarios and examples throughout, the course content can be universally applied to any industry or assurance role.

However, based on the success of this course, we now also offer a Systems Lead Auditor Course through our sister company Southpac International, which is suited to all other industries, especially safety critical industries such as mining, construction, petrochemical and oil and gas.

Southpac offers a variety of course delivery types, including Face-to-Face public courses, LIVE & Virtual public courses, and Online self-paced courses.

We have adapated our learning methods to incorporate the changes happening in our world, as more students move to e-learning due to accessibility or personal preference.

Our LIVE & Virtual courses are facilitated in a LIVE Learning Virtual Classroom, which offers the same fully interactive, highly engaging training Southpac is regarded for, with the convenience of logging in from anywhere.

Participants are required to log in from their own computer each day for the duration of the course, which is facilitated by an experienced Southpac trainer and includes interactive workshops, group breakout rooms, and plenty of opportunity for interaction with the course facilitator and other participants.

Our Online self-paced courses are available for certain units of competency or course content. Once you have enrolled and payed for an Online course, you can access it via the Student Portal and complete it at your own pace, returning to it at any time. Some of our Diplomas require Online self-paced courses to be completed.

For the majority of our courses, all activities and assessments are included within the course, with homework completed throughout the week. Some students choose to finalise this at their own pace following the course.

Unless it is specified for a particular course, we generally do not require students to complete post-course assessments.

We pride ourselves on our training model that ensures students gain the valuable knowledge and practical experience they need to meet nationally recognised training requirements within the duration of the course.

For each course or unit you are enrolled in, you have 12 months from the start of the course to complete assessments and achieve the units of competency.

However, it is recommended that assessments are completed as soon as possible while knowledge is retained from the course.

Southpac uses the aXcelerate Learning Management System to provide the best possible delivery of our courses and assessments.

When you enrol in a Southpac course, you will be asked to create a Global Account, if you don’t already have one. This is required to give you access to course material and assessments to complete your course.

When setting up a Global Account, users will have the option to connect their aXcelerate account(s) to their Google, Facebook or Apple account or alternatively create them with an email address or mobile phone number and password.

This provides a more secure and seamless login experience and also allows users with multiple aXcelerate accounts to connect them all to a single Global Account.

If you cannot see any upcoming Course Dates for a particular course, it is most likely because you are viewing a course that is only offered by Southpac as an in-house course.

In-house corporate training can be arranged for group bookings of up to 10 people. Dates are arranged directly with Southpac and we can facilitate the course either virtually or face-to-face.

Individuals cannot book onto these courses as they are not publicly facilitated.

Diploma FAQs

Southpac offers three unique but interconnected Diplomas – the Diploma of Quality Auditing, Diploma of Leadership & Management and the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management).

Many of our students aim to achieve the Diploma of Quality Auditing initially. Southpac offers three highly valuable courses to achieve this Diploma and the 12 units of competency required for the qualification.

Following our popular course pathway, students who have achieved the BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing can achieve the BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership & Management with just one more course, which provides the 12 units required for this qualification.

These units also contribute to the AVI50119 Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) which requires 24 units of competency. These units can be achieved through a combination of further Southpac courses and Online self-paced courses.

This Stepping Stone Approach allows students to start any qualification at any point with any course they wish and then progress at their own pace, completing courses most relevant to them or their organisation’s needs.

The cost of the Diploma of Quality Auditing, Diploma of Leadership & Management or Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) will vary depending on the courses you choose to make up the units of competency to achieve the Diploma.

This depends on the individual pathway you choose based on your study needs or areas of interest, or any previous courses you have attended with Southpac or another training provider, provided the correct units of competency have been achieved.

Yes.

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO Code 32353), Southpac Aerospace issues nationally recognised qualifications and statements of attainment.

Southpac Diplomas are designed and accredited to enable graduates to demonstrate the learning outcomes expressed as knowledge, skills and the application of knowledge and skills specified in the level 5 criteria and the Diploma descriptor of the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Each Diploma offered by Southpac is designed to comply with the Packaging Rules of the training package under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

This includes Core units, which must be completed, and Elective units. The make-up of Elective units for each Diploma is prescribed under the Diploma’s Packaging Rules, with a certain amount required from Group A Electives, Group B Electives, and/or Imported Electives.

Our Courses are designed to deliver the required amount of Core and Elective units, including their grouping, allowing participants to achieve the required units of competency in the most straight-forward way, while providing the most relevant and valuable training for aviation industry professionals.

Details of the Packaging Rules can be found under the relevant Diploma on training.gov.au

We do provide the option for RPL (Recognised Prior Learning), which is an assessment process of your past experience and background against units of competency. RPL is all about evidence. To award RPL we require solid evidence which maps directly to the unit of competency and its requirements. You can view and download our RPL kits here.

In many cases, experienced individuals prefer to attend a Southpac course to get the most up-to-date learning that is relevant to the aviation industry and provides the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve the nationally recognised units of competency that contribute to a particular Diploma.

Yes, we can arrange a Credit Transfer provided these units match or are equivalent to units within the Diploma training package you are trying to achieve. We can help you determine this on a case-by-case basis.

Credit Transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. For more information on credit transfer, please see the AQF website or visit our RPL & Credit Transfer page for information specific to the Southpac process.

Please note there is a cost per unit for Credit Transfer.

No.

There are no pre-requisites for any Southpac Diploma courses, so you can complete the courses in any order depending on upcoming dates that suit you, requirements for your role, or the needs of your organisation.

No.

We understand the need to balance work, life and professional development, so we do not put any time limit on achieving a Diploma with Southpac.

For each course or unit you are enrolled in, you have 12 months from the start of the course to complete assessments and achieve the units of competency. Extensions may be granted on application.

It is also important to note that units of competency within each Diploma can be updated or superseded from time to time to keep up with industry changes or changes within the nationally recognised training package.

Where possible, we will always communicate these changes ahead of time and contact students in the process of completing a Diploma if they are likely to be affected by such changes.

At Southpac Aerospace we believe that only when people, clients and other stakeholders are seen as true collaborators and partners will an organisation achieve lasting success.
